Wayne Ewasko
Working for Lac du Bonnet
A former teacher and four-term MLA, Wayne Ewasko has deep roots in Lac du Bonnet and a proven record in government from Minister of Education to Interim PC Leader always fighting for rural Manitoba and the next generation.
Why Wayne Ewasko?
First elected in 2011 and trusted by Lac du Bonnet voters four times over Wayne Ewasko is one of Manitoba's most experienced and community-rooted representatives.
Before entering politics, Wayne spent over 17 years as a teacher and guidance counsellor with Sunrise School Division. Those years shaped who he is as a legislator someone who listens, builds relationships, and thinks about the long-term wellbeing of the people he serves.
His record in government is substantial. He served as Government Caucus Chairperson, Minister of Advanced Education, and Minister of Education and Early Childhood Learning expanding skilled trades opportunities, strengthening childcare, and delivering a long-awaited personal care home for Lac du Bonnet. He also represented Canada as the sole elected official on education at the G7 in Japan.
In 2023, he stepped up as Interim Leader of the PC Party, providing steady leadership during a critical transition period. Today he continues to serve as the opposition critic for Education and Early Childhood Learning holding the NDP to account on the issues that shape Manitoba's future.
Raised here, rooted here, and committed to building a strong future for the next generation of Lac du Bonnet families.

Cost of Living in Rural Communities
The rising costs of groceries, essential items, Manitoba Hydro bills, fuel, rent, and taxes are contributing to an alarming increase in the cost of living. For residents in rural communities, the situation is even more challenging due to the limited options compared to urban centers. Wayne Ewasko is committed to continue to advocate for affordability for the people of Rural Manitoba.
Accessible Housing
It is critical that individuals are not forced to leave their communities due to a lack of adequate housing. Obtaining affordable housing in rural areas presents notable difficulties for seniors and those on fixed incomes. The limitations in rental inventories, coupled with high demand, rising private-market rents, and insufficient Manitoba Housing, further complicate the pursuit of stable and affordable living options.

Why Edna Nabess?
Everything I am today began here in northern Manitoba.
I was born in Cormorant, raised in the traditions of Mathias Colomb Cree Nation, built a business in The Pas, and have spent my life working alongside families and communities throughout the North. The people, cultures, and communities of The Pas–Kameesak have shaped who I am. This is home.
I am running because I believe our communities deserve a strong voice someone who understands the North not because they've read about it, but because they've lived it.
Throughout my life, I have worked to create opportunities for others. Whether supporting Indigenous entrepreneurs, raising a family, opening my home to foster children, helping young people in remote communities, or serving on provincial boards, my purpose has always been the same: to leave my community stronger than I found it.
I believe The Pas–Kameesak has one of the brightest futures in Manitoba. Our region is home to hardworking people, proud Indigenous communities, abundant natural resources, thriving tourism, forestry, mining, fishing, trapping, agriculture, and small businesses that have supported northern families for generations. We have everything we need to succeed. What we need is leadership that believes in our people, works in partnership with our communities, and creates the opportunities that will keep our young people here, attract new investment, and build a stronger future for everyone.
I want to be a strong voice for every community across this riding from The Pas and Opaskwayak Cree Nation to Cormorant, Moose Lake, Pukatawagan, Grand Rapids, Easterville, and every community in between. Every community deserves to be heard. Every family deserves opportunity. Every young person deserves a reason to build their future right here in northern Manitoba.
Politics has never been my ambition. Service has. Serving as your MLA is simply another way I can continue the work I have dedicated my life to listening to people, bringing communities together, and helping build a stronger future for northern Manitoba.
If you place your trust in me, I promise to work hard every day to earn it. I will listen with respect, lead with integrity, and always put the people of The Pas–Kameesak first.
Everything I am began here in northern Manitoba. I believe in the people of northern Manitoba. I always have, and I always will.
